Primary Responsibilities
- Lead the design and development of building electrical systems, including power distribution, lighting, grounding, lightning protection, and low-voltage systems.
- Serve as a technical expert on airport, federal, and defense projects, ensuring designs meet strict security, code compliance, and performance standards.
- Guide project teams in delivering world-class infrastructure for Department of Energy.
- Coordinate closely with architects, mechanical engineers, and other disciplines to ensure fully integrated design solutions.
- Conduct local site investigations, condition assessments, and field verifications as needed to inform design and construction activities.
- Prepare electrical calculations, detailed drawings, technical specifications, and construction documents using Revit, AutoCAD, and other design tools.
- Lead or support electrical system modeling and analysis, including short-circuit, coordination, and arc flash studies.
- Participate in client meetings, design reviews, and presentations, effectively communicating complex technical information.
- Manage electrical scope, schedule, and budget on assigned projects, ensuring deliverables are on time and within budget.
- Mentor junior engineers and designers, contributing to team development and knowledge sharing.
- Support construction-phase services, including submittal reviews, RFIs, field support, and final inspections.
- Professional Engineer (PE)
- Professional Engineer (PE) License Bachelor Degree in Electrical Engineering or related degree from an ABET accredited program. and 7 years electrical engineering experience required or
- Master Degree in Electrical Engineering and 6 years electrical engineering experience required
- Ability to obtain and maintain a Department of Energy Security Clearance.
- Demonstrate mastery of standard engineering techniques and procedures. Strong knowledge of electrical equipment design ANSI and IEEE Standards. Strong computer skills (e.g. Microsoft Office Suite).
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Experience with leading the discipline design for large projects and delegating work tasks to team members. Ability to lead execution of work and resolve issues in a team environment.
- Demonstrated critical thinking skills, ability to work methodically and analytically in a quantitative problem-solving environment.
- Strong attention to detail, facilitation, team building, collaboration, organization and problem-solving skills.
- Strong computer skills include Revit, AutoCAD programs.
- Ability to perform quality reviews for detailed engineering documents and specifications.
- Candidates must be legally authorized to work permanently (i.e., without time limitations, without restrictions or without need for work sponsorship) in the country where this position is located.
- Familiarity with NEC, NFPA, and federal design standards is preferred.
- Familiarity with manufacturing, industrial and vertical construction is preferred.
