Description
The Distribution Department Manager is responsible for the strategic leadership and growth of the Distribution business and department, and its development within the NER T&D Global Practice. This role requires a commitment to Burns & McDonnell’s core values, including safety, client satisfaction, and outstanding service. The Distribution Department Manager develops new business, leads major initiatives, manages strategic projects, and creates an efficient distribution engineering and design team proficient in integrated project delivery. In addition to reporting to the T&D Operations Director, the Distribution Department Manager will work closely with the T&D Project Development Director, T&D Operations Managing Director, and the T&D NER client account teams to drive the financial and technical success of the distribution business line.
Key Responsibilities
Technical Team Leadership & Development: Manage, build, recruit, and mentor a self-supporting and sustainable distribution engineering team capable of executing excellent technical work.
Leadership & Vision: Develop a business plan and vision for the NER T&D Distribution business, fostering a start-up culture with a focus on profitability and collaboration.
Strategic Project Management: Manage select strategic projects and key pursuits, ensuring alignment with Burns & McDonnell’s safety programs, training, and policies.
Business Development: Support and grow distribution business opportunities within existing and new T&D NER client accounts. Lead distribution-specific pursuits.
Client Account Growth: Collaborate with Account Leadership to support the growth and development of key NER client accounts.
EPC & Program Management Excellence: Leverage project development skills to convert distribution engineering engagements into program management, EPC, or integrated delivery opportunities.
Local and National Support: Provide high-quality support to both local and national clients that leverages strong local leadership and drives fiscal accountability.
Qualifications
$150,000.00-300,000.00 Yearly
The expected compensation range for this position is displayed in compliance with all local/state regulations. The expected compensation range for this position is based on a number of factors, including but not limited to: individual education, qualifications, prior work experience and work location. The total annual compensation package will consist of a base salary and eligibility to participate in our discretionary year-end incentive bonus program.

Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in engineering, architecture, construction, or a related degree from an accredited program. and 7 years of related professional experience in design and/or project management. Required
- Registered Professional Engineer (preferred)
- At least 10 years of experience in T&D engineering, design, project management, or technical leadership is preferred.
- Extensive experience in project management, particularly within the transmission and distribution sector, is preferred.
- Must demonstrate excellent oral and written communication skills, strong interpersonal skills, and the ability to clearly and effectively present complex information to all levels of employees, management, and clients.
- Position requires the ability to thoughtfully and positively influence, lead, and manage change.
- Must possess strong project management skills and a strategic perspective.
- Ability to work collaboratively across multiple disciplines and locations.
- Must be an expert in the use of computer software (i.e., Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
