What are the responsibilities and job description for the Assistant Electrical Designer position at Burns & McDonnell?
Must have Bachelor Degree in drafting technology or related field and min 4 years related experience (experience in the electric utility industry, specifically within distribution systems design)
OR
Associate Degree and min 5 years related experience (experience in the electric utility industry, specifically within distribution systems design)
OR
High School and CAD Certification, and min 6 years progressive detailing and design experience (experience in the electric utility industry, specifically within distribution systems design).
BICSI Certified in Advanced Cabling Distribution, SpidaCalc preferred.
Bachelors degree in any Engineering field is not allowed for this position from an ABET accredited school is not allowed for this position.
This role requires hands-on experience with GIS platforms GE Smallworld and ArcGIS and within Maximo and BOUD for asset and work order tracking (Must show on resume)
Candidates should also have working knowledge of AutoCAD for basic drafting and design needs. Experience with Revit for electrical design is a plus.
The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 5 years of experience in the electric utility industry, specifically within distribution systems design.
Strong understanding of design software such as: AutoCAD, MicroStation, and Excel to develop the design deliverables.
Ability to learn and effectively utilize new design software programs.
Ability to utilize both 2D and 3D applications to prepare engineering drawings.
Basic knowledge in design, calculations and design systems.
Basic knowledge in the theory and practices of engineering discipline; competent in the fundamental concepts of other disciplines as they relate to the assigned discipline; and capable of operating related discipline design software necessary to execute production tasks.
Ability to work collaboratively with others (Project Managers, Engineers and Designers) in a multi-discipline project team environment to resolve design or drawing issues as appropriate and to accomplish objectives.
