Role Description
We are seeking a Senior Asphalt Technician for a full-time, on-site role in Ridgeland, MS. This position is primarily laboratory-based, focusing on high-level asphalt testing and mix design evaluation, with the potential for field work as project demands require.
The Senior Asphalt Technician will perform asphalt testing operations, ensure strict compliance with industry standards, and assist with quality assurance programs for construction materials. Key responsibilities include documenting precise test results, collaborating with engineers and project managers, and ensuring the meticulous maintenance of lab equipment and adherence to safety protocols.
Qualifications
- Technical Experience: Extensive experience in asphalt testing operations, with a heavy emphasis on laboratory procedures and supplemental field testing skills.
- Certification: Must possess, or have the ability to obtain, Mississippi DOT (MDOT) Certified Mixture Design Technician (CMDT) certification.
- Asphalt Mix Design & QA: Strong knowledge of quality assurance testing and proficiency with mix design evaluation.
- Documentation: High level of skill in documenting test results and compiling technical reports.
- Equipment Mastery: Proficiency in using, calibrating, and maintaining specialized testing equipment.
- Standards Knowledge: Solid understanding of industry and safety standards related to construction materials and testing (ASTM, AASHTO, etc.).
- Communication: Excellent communication skills for collaborating with engineers, project managers, and clients.
- Logistics: Ability to work on-site in Ridgeland, MS, and adapt to occasional field project demands.
- Additional Credentials: Certification through other applicable programs (such as ACI or NICET) is a plus.
- Physical Requirements: Ability to lift 50 pounds and work around heavy machinery, in various weather conditions, and in a lab environment.
- Education: High school diploma or equivalent.
- Technology: Experience with computer use, including Microsoft Word and Excel.
- Driver’s License: Valid driver’s license with acceptable driving record.
- Drug Testing: BCD is a Drug-Free Workplace. Candidates must successfully pass a pre-employment drug screen and will be subject to random drug and alcohol testing as a condition of employment.
