Position Overview
We are looking for a knowledgeable and customer-focused Wine and/or Beer Associate who can confidently guide guests through our selection of craft beer and wine. This role is part retail expert, part salesperson, and part host—creating an engaging and welcoming experience for every customer.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide exceptional customer service and personalized recommendations for wine and craft beer
- Actively engage customers to drive sales and increase average transaction size
- Maintain strong knowledge of product inventory, including varietals, regions, breweries, and flavor profiles
- Assist with merchandising, stocking, and maintaining a clean, organized sales floor
- Support inventory management, including receiving and restocking product
- Help execute in-store promotions, tastings, and events
- Educate customers on pairings, new arrivals, and featured products
- Ensure compliance with all NC ABC laws and ID verification procedures
- Collaborate with team members to maintain a positive, high-energy store environment
Qualifications
- Previous retail, bar, restaurant, or beverage industry experience preferred
- Strong interest in wine and/or craft beer (formal certifications a plus, not required)
- Ability to confidently communicate recommendations and upsell products
- Outgoing personality with a customer-first mindset
- Reliable, punctual, and team-oriented
- Must meet all eligibility requirements under North Carolina ABC regulations, including no disqualifying alcohol-related offenses (e.g., DWI/DUI)
- Must be at least 21 years old
Preferred (But Not Required)
- WSET, Cicerone, or other beverage certifications
- Experience with POS systems (Lightspeed is a plus)
- Event or tasting experience
