About BurnBot

BurnBot provides systematic fuels treatment solutions to prevent destructive wildfires. We're firefighters, scientists, engineers, prescribed fire practitioners, ecologists, and community members who are answering the call to scale fuel treatment capacity. Our modern fuel treatment system recognizes and supports conservation efforts with a clean, smoke-free process. We need technology to amplify our workforces with targeted use of synthetic fire to treat fuel loads 10x faster than previously possible.

The Role

BurnBot, Inc. is seeking a Technical Writer to join our Science & Technology team, with a core responsibility of producing clear, accurate, and user-friendly documentation for all technologies invented or developed at BurnBot. This includes writing technical specifications, assembly guides, operator manuals, maintenance procedures, and safety documentation for a range of proprietary machines, systems, and tools.

This role will work in close partnership with both R&D engineers and Field Operations teams to ensure documentation reflects real-world use cases and supports safe, consistent, and effective deployment of BurnBot technology. A strong commitment to safety, teamwork, and maintaining an organized, well-functioning workshop is essential to success in this role.

This role is an exempt role with an annual compensation range of $110,000-$140,000. However, we do consider many factors when creating job offers, including (but not limited to), the role, location, responsibilities, experience, training, education, and skillset.

  • Organize and manage a centralized documentation system for current and legacy technologies.

  • Support version control and continuous updates as new iterations of equipment are developed.

  • Contribute to knowledge transfer efforts between Science & Technology and Operations.

  • Ensure documentation aligns with industry standards for safety, compliance, and usability.

  • Contribute to preparation of documentation for patent applications.

  • Other duties as assigned.
