What are the responsibilities and job description for the Talent Business Partner position at BurnBot, Inc?
About BurnBot
BurnBot provides systematic fuels treatment services to prevent destructive wildfires. We're firefighters, scientists, engineers, prescribed fire practitioners, ecologists, and community members who are answering the call to scale fuel treatment capacity. Our modern fuel treatment system recognizes and supports conservation efforts with a clean, smoke-free process. We need technology to amplify our workforces with targeted use of synthetic fire to treat fuel loads 10x faster than previously possible.
The Role
BurnBot is seeking a Talent Business Partner to join our rapidly growing People & Culture team. This role will be responsible for designing and driving our talent acquisition strategy from the ground up. This is not a transactional recruiting role; it’s a rare opportunity to architect a forward-looking, strategic talent engine that fuels BurnBot’s growth. You’ll be responsible for building the systems, relationships, and pipelines that bring exceptional talent to BurnBot across both field operations and corporate teams. You’ll be a connector, partnering with universities, technical programs, and industry networks. You’ll be a builder, developing scalable processes, programs, and eventually, a high-performing talent team that enhances BurnBot’s mission.
This role is an exempt with a salary range of $125,000 - $135,000. However, we do consider many factors when creating job offers, including (but not limited to), the role, location, responsibilities, experience, training, education, and skillset.
Job Duties/Responsibilities
- Comply with all state and federal regulations; safety or otherwise.
- Maintain and promote a safe, productive and positive working environment.
- Build & own BurnBot’s recruiting strategy; from workforce planning to hiring execution.
- Design scalable recruiting processes that blend speed, quality, and candidate experience.
- Develop deep pipelines for both field and corporate roles, ensuring we’re never hiring from scratch.
- Partner with leadership to forecast talent needs and align hiring with BurnBot’s growth and mission.
- Cultivate relationships with universities, trade schools, veteran programs, and community organizations to develop long-term talent pathways.
- Represent BurnBot externally at career fairs, conferences, and networking events as a passionate ambassador of our mission.
- Establish an internship and early-career program that builds future talent for operations, engineering, and environmental science roles.
- Leverage technology and data to measure recruiting effectiveness, diversity outcomes, and hiring velocity.
- Grow and mentor a team over time as the company scales and the talent function expands.
- Strong bias for action and the ability to execute assigned tasks with or without guidance.
- Can adapt to a fast changing environment and work priorities.
- Desire to learn, ask questions and take on new responsibilities as needed.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience.
- 7 years of experience in recruiting, talent acquisition, or talent leadership roles.
- Experience recruiting for both field-based and corporate/technical teams.
- Adept at sourcing talent creatively. From boots-on-the-ground operators to specialized engineers and scientists.
- Proven success designing or scaling recruiting processes, pipelines, or programs.
- Strong relationship-building skills with educational institutions, community programs, and industry associations.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills; confident in executive-level discussions.
- Startup or growth-stage company experience preferred.

- Ability to bend, twist, lift, reach, grasp and climb various surfaces and heights for 4 hours per day.
- Be able to commute to assigned job sites.

- Passion for Burnbot’s mission
It would be cool if…
- You’re the kind of person who can talk comfortably with a heavy equipment operator in the morning and a software engineer in the afternoon.
- You’ve recruited or worked alongside wildland firefighters, foresters, ecologists, or conservation crews and understand what makes them exceptional.
- You love being in the field as much as behind a screen, and you’re energized by seeing your recruiting impact come to life on the ground.
- You’ve built talent programs for mission-driven, outdoor, or environmental organizations.
- Experience in or knowledge of Forestry, Fire, or Fuels Mitigation industries.
