What are the responsibilities and job description for the Safety Business Partner position at BurnBot, Inc?
About BurnBot
BurnBot provides systematic fuels treatment services to prevent destructive wildfires. We're firefighters, scientists, engineers, prescribed fire practitioners, ecologists, and community members who are answering the call to scale fuel treatment capacity. Our modern fuel treatment system recognizes and supports conservation efforts with a clean, smoke-free process. We need technology to amplify our workforces with targeted use of synthetic fire to treat fuel loads 10x faster than previously possible.
The Role
BurnBot is seeking a Safety Business Partner to join our rapidly growing People & Culture Team. This role will be responsible for developing, implementing, and scaling our company-wide safety program. This person will build a culture of safety from the ground up; one that supports both our field and corporate teams and sets a new standard for safety in wildfire mitigation and prescribed fire operations. You’ll work closely with operations leaders, government and utility partners, and the People & Culture team to ensure BurnBot’s work is not only effective, but safe, compliant, and resilient.
This role is exempt with a salary range of $110,000 - $130,000. However, we do consider many factors when creating job offers, including (but not limited to), the role, location, responsibilities, experience, training, education, and skillset.
Job Duties/Responsibilities
- Comply with all state and federal regulations; safety or otherwise.
- Maintain and promote a safe, productive and positive working environment.
- Design and implement a comprehensive safety management system across BurnBot’s operations.
- Partner with utility companies, agencies, and regulatory bodies to ensure compliance with all safety standards.
- Build and lead training programs for field teams, including onboarding, certification, and continuing education.
- Conduct and document safety audits, incident investigations (including AAR’s), and risk assessments.
- Develop and maintain emergency response and fire safety protocols.
- Lead company-wide initiatives to embed a proactive safety culture.
- Ensure safety training and reporting are integrated into People & Culture systems.
- Strong bias for action and the ability to execute assigned tasks with or without guidance.
- Can adapt to a fast changing environment and work priorities.
- Desire to learn, ask questions and take on new responsibilities as needed.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Bachelors degree or equivalent experience
- Valid Commercial Drivers License
- 7 years of experience leading safety programs in utilities, construction, forestry, or fire mitigation.
- Proven experience designing training programs and managing regulatory relationships.
- Deep understanding of OSHA, CAL/OSHA, and utility/government safety requirements.
- Strong communication and leadership skills; trusted by both field and executive teams.
- A builder who can design scalable systems, not just maintain compliance.
- Physical ability to lift/push/pull weights of up to 40lbs with regularity.
- Ability to bend, twist, lift, reach, grasp and climb various surfaces and heights for 6 hours per day.
- Be able to commute to assigned job sites.

It would be cool if…

- You’ve led safety programs in wildland fire, fuels reduction, or prescribed burn operations.
- You hold fire or safety certifications (e.g., Red Card, CSP, CUSP, NFPA credentials).
- You’ve built safety programs from scratch in startups or high-growth environments.
- You love both data-driven safety systems and boots-on-the-ground safety leadership
