What are the responsibilities and job description for the Lackawanna County Prevention Outreach Coordinator position at Burn Prevention Network?
SUMMARY:
We are looking for an individual with Early Care/Education experience who can effectively manage our Home Safe Home Young Adventurers Club expansion in the Lehigh Valley to prevent burn and fire injuries with preschoolers and their families. This is a hybrid position and requires reliable transportation to locations not on a bus route and a laptop/computer with consistent Wi-Fi access. Must be available for presentations some week days approximately 9am-1pm. Must live and be familiar with Lackawanna County, PA. (Position could eventually expand into neighboring counties).
The Lackawanna County Prevention Outreach Coordinator will provide educational burn prevention presentations to children ages 3-5 at early learning centers in Lackawanna County. He or she will manage our relationship with early learning centers in Lackawanna County by answering questions, booking presentations, gathering feedback. He or she will work also manage the relationship with mother/baby and labor/delivery departments of Moses Taylor Hospital. This will include delivering supplies, answering questions and checking for feedback on the program. The Lackawanna County Prevention Outreach Coordinator will also be responsible for managing data collection and reporting, marketing, and other components of program management.
The Lackawanna County Prevention Outreach Coordinator will serve as an ambassador for the program and connect with the larger Lackawanna community by attending public events and networking with potential funders, donors and community partners.
To be a successful Lehigh Valley Prevention Outreach Coordinator, you should be able to speak and write fluently in English, display a passion for working with young children, and be able to communicate that passion to others. This individual will be a self-starter who is able to work independently, and project manage their own work to complete tasks in a deadline-oriented environment.
QUALIFICATIONS:
· Demonstrate fluency in written and spoken English.
· Minimum 18 college credits toward a degree in childhood development, early childhood education, or related degrees.
· Reside within Lackawanna County, PA
· Valid PA driver’s license and reliable transportation
· 24-hour access to a private computer/laptop with consistent Wi-Fi service that runs Windows 10 or higher.
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:
· Enjoy working with small children and adults
· Comfortable speaking in front of groups
· Self-motivated and able to manage projects
· Written and spoken fluency in English
· Familiarity with MS Office. A knowledge of databases, such as Customer Relationship Management (CRM) or Client Management System (CMS), is preferred.
· Familiarity with burn survivors or people in the fire service is a plus
· Experience working independently in a deadline-driven environment.
· Able to work well in a team environment, handle multiple assignments and meet deadlines.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
· Teach burn and fire prevention education to children ages 3-5 in Lackawanna County early learning centers.
· Manage early learning center relationships. Answer questions, gather suggestions for improvement, book presentations, and gather feedback for improvement.
· Educate hospital staff in meetings and 1:1s about the program. Answer questions, gather suggestions for improvement, and discuss strategies for improvement, including increasing voluntary client participation.
· Order and deliver materials, including client magnet postcards; classroom posters, fire trucks and books; take-home parent letter and activities, and the comprehension test.
· Gather anecdotal stories, pictures, videos and other content for marketing the program. Create marketing pieces that demonstrate the effectiveness and impact of the program in the NEPA.
· Work with BPN Board members and major donors in Lehigh Valley to share information about the program with potential stakeholders.
· Gather program data, enter data in our Client Management System (CMS) and perform basic analysis.
· Manage monthly client incentive drawing and disbursement.
· Attend community non-profit meetings where potential partners, funders and donors may attend.
· Maintain lists of potential funders, donors and partners with contact information and enter BPN’s CRM database.
· Attend press conferences promoting the success of the program
· Performs other duties as assigned.
