What are the responsibilities and job description for the HR Business Partner (Corporate) position at Burlington?
**Position Overview**
We are looking for a high-potential, strategic HR Business Partner to support our Store Operations, Asset Protection, and Merchandise Presentation organizations. This role will partner with leaders at every level — from frontline managers to senior executives — to shape and execute the people agenda that powers our store experience. This is an individual contributor role with broad influence. You will bring strong HR acumen, a bias for action, and the ability to operate comfortably in ambiguity to drive meaningful business impact through talent. You will also have the opportunity to lead and contribute to enterprise-wide projects supporting store and field initiatives. We are looking for someone who moves quickly, is energized by change and transformation, and is ready to be a true thought partner to the business.
**A Day In The Life**

Translate business priorities into people strategies that drive performance, retention, and engagement.
Anticipate organizational, talent, and culture needs; bring proactive recommendations to leaders.
**Talent Development & Succession Planning**
Lead annual and ongoing talent reviews, succession planning, and IDP processes for your client groups.
Identify high-potential talent and partner with leaders to design development plans, stretch assignments, and career paths.
Support performance management cycles, including merit, calibration, and goal-setting.
Champion a culture of continuous feedback, coaching, and growth.
**Employee Relations & Coaching**
Handle complex employee relations matters with sound judgment, discretion, and a solutions mindset.
Coach managers through difficult conversations — performance issues, organizational changes, sensitive situations — and equip them to lead with confidence.
Investigate concerns thoroughly and partner with Legal and ER as needed.
**COE Partnership**
Partner closely with Centers of Excellence — Talent Acquisition, Total Rewards, Learning & Development, DEI, and HR Operations — to deliver integrated solutions to the business.
Bring the voice of your client groups into COE program design and execution.
Translate enterprise programs for adoption and impact within Stores.
**Projects & Field Support**
Lead or contribute to cross-functional projects supporting store and field initiatives.
Use data and insights to identify trends, frame problems, and drive action.
Partner across the Field HR Operations team to scale solutions and operate as one team.
**You'll Come With**
**Required Qualifications**
Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
5 years of progressive HR experience, including dedicated time as an HR Business Partner.
Experience supporting retail, store operations, or similarly fast-paced, distributed environments.
Demonstrated experience leading talent reviews, succession planning, and performance management.
Strong working knowledge of employment law, employee relations practices, and HR fundamentals.
**Preferred Qualifications**
Experience in a multi-unit, off-price, or specialty retail environment.
Experience supporting Asset Protection or Merchandise Presentation functions.
HR certification (PHR, SPHR, SHRM-CP, or SHRM-SCP).
Experience supporting large-scale change, integration, or transformation efforts.
**What We're Looking For**
Beyond the resume, we are looking for someone who brings:
**Strong HR acumen —** with particular strength in talent development, succession planning, and organizational design.
**Comfort operating in the gray —** you are energized by figuring things out rather than waiting for the path to be defined.
**Bias to action —** you move quickly, prioritize ruthlessly, and bring solutions, not just problems.
**Courage in tough conversations —** you handle difficult moments with empathy and directness, and coach others to do the same.
**Strong COE partnership —** you build relationships and influence outcomes without authority across functions.
**Adaptability —** you are comfortable with change and transformation, and help others navigate it well.
