185 / 1ROPRSDC01 DESCRIPTION: Highly structured Special Day Class. Experience/familiarity working with students who are nonverbal including working with AAC and AT supports is highly desirable. Under the direction of the site administrator and Assistant Superintendent of Student Services, provide instruction and manage services for moderate/severe, non-verbal primary students. Description of Class: Children in the Highly Structured Primary SDC class have significant delays in one or more areas of development such as language, cognitive, motor skills, or other neurological impairments. Students will receive specialized instruction and related services based on their needs. Opportunities for inclusion with the general education population as well as consistent communication with parents are important. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Develops and implements instruction based on student need and measures progress towards goals. Facilities structured play groups with support of Special Education staff Collaborates with school psychologists and other Special Education staff Conducts assessments, writes reports, develops goals for Individual Education Plans Develops, implements and monitors plans for instructional aides Establishes and maintains data collection files and logs Communicates with parents daily, or as needed Develops with school team members ways to provide mainstreaming opportunities for students Participates in, coordinates, and/or chairs IEP meetings as necessary Completes assigned work in a timely manner Continues to grow professional through attendance at conferences, workshops, professional meetings, and college courses Other Duties and Responsibilities Attends grade level, department and staff meetings Maintains positive and collaborative relationships with parents and staff Participates as active member of school including extra duties as assigned Job Related Skills and Essential Qualities Skill in written and oral communicat
