Role Description The Associate Attorney will provide legal representation and counsel to clients, with a primary focus on Family, Criminal, and/or Civil litigation and related areas of law. Day-to-day responsibilities include conducting legal research, drafting pleadings, motions, contracts, and other legal documents, and preparing for and attending hearings, mediations, and negotiations. The role involves meeting with clients to assess legal issues, offering clear and practical legal advice, and collaborating with partners and colleagues on case strategy and risk assessment. This is a full-time, on-site position located in Grand Junction, CO, requiring regular in-person interaction with clients, courts, and the firm’s legal team.

Qualifications

  • Strong foundation in litigation, with the ability to analyze statutes, regulations, and case law.
  • Demonstrated skills in providing legal advice to clients, including issue spotting, risk assessment, and solution-oriented counseling.
  • Proficiency in research, including legal research tools, case analysis, and drafting research memoranda.
  • Effective Negotiation skills for resolving disputes, handling settlements, and advocating for clients in various forums.
  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school and active bar admission (or eligibility for admission) in Colorado.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, including clear drafting and confident courtroom and client presentation abilities.
  • Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to manage multiple matters and deadlines.
  • Commitment to professional ethics, client confidentiality, and collaborative work within a team-oriented firm environment.
