Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and energetic Dental Assistant to join our dynamic dental team! Duties
- Assist dentists during a variety of dental procedures including restorations, extractions, root canals, and prosthodontic treatments using four-handed dentistry techniques.
- Prepare treatment rooms by sterilizing instruments, setting up dental tools, and ensuring all equipment such as X-ray machines and 3D scanners are ready for use.
- Take and develop dental radiographs (X-rays), ensuring adherence to infection control protocols and HIPAA regulations for patient privacy.
- Manage medical documentation by accurately recording patient information, medical history, vital signs, and treatment details in electronic medical record (EMR) systems such as Eaglesoft or Dentrix.
- Provide patient education on oral hygiene practices and post-treatment care to promote optimal health outcomes.
- Support infection control procedures through aseptic technique and proper handling of dental instruments and materials.
- Assist with medical imaging procedures and monitor patient comfort throughout treatments.
- Collaborate with the dental team to ensure efficient clinic operations, including greeting patients as a dental receptionist when needed.
Skills
- Proficiency in dental assisting techniques including chairside assisting, taking vital signs, and understanding dental terminology.
- Experience with EMR systems such as Eaglesoft, Dentrix, or Epic for managing medical records and documentation.
- Knowledge of infection control standards, aseptic technique, anatomy knowledge, and HIPAA compliance.
- Familiarity with pediatric dentistry practices and working with pediatric patients is highly desirable.
- Ability to operate dental equipment including X-ray machines, 3D scanners, and other medical imaging tools safely and effectively.
- Strong organizational skills for managing medical coding, dental records, and appointment scheduling.
