Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Dental Assistant/Receptionist to join our busy dental practice. Duties
- Greet patients warmly and manage patient check-in and check-out processes using systems such as Eaglesoft, Dentrix, or similar EHR platforms
- Schedule appointments efficiently and manage the clinic's calendar using dental office management software
- Verify insurance coverage, perform insurance verification, and handle medical billing and coding including CPT, ICD-9, ICD-10 codes
- Collect payments and process medical collections accurately while maintaining HIPAA compliance
- Prepare and review medical records, documentation, and care plans for accuracy and completeness
- Assist the dentist during procedures by passing instruments, taking x-rays, and maintaining sterile environments
- Manage multi-line phone systems with professional phone etiquette and handle patient inquiries effectively
- Maintain accurate documentation review and ensure compliance with health information management standards
- Support administrative tasks such as filing, data entry (10 key typing), and managing electronic health records (Epic, Meditech, eClinicalWorks)
- Ensure adherence to HIPAA regulations to protect patient confidentiality at all times
Experience
- Prior clinic or dental office experience strongly preferred; experience with dental terminology, medical coding (ICD-10/ICD-9), and insurance processing is highly desirable
- Proficiency in EMR systems such as Eaglesoft, Dentrix, or similar software; familiarity with Epic, Meditech, Athenahealth, or other EHR systems is a plus
- Strong computer skills including Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel), typing skills (10 key typing), and familiarity with health information management practices
- Excellent patient service skills with a professional demeanor; bilingual abilities are advantageous for serving diverse patient populations
- Previous experience in medical administrative support or front desk roles within healthcare settings is preferred
- Knowledge of dental terminology and clinic procedures will enhance your effectiveness in this role
