Hiring Range: $20.38 - $23.95 per hour
Closing Date: April 17, 2026 at 5 PM
General Statement Of Duties
This position provides administrative support in the Burke County Manager Department. Position requires approximately 40 hours of work per workweek.
Duties And Responsibilities
To successfully perform this position, an individual must be able to perform the following:
- Reviews, verifies, and bills patient medical records, such as patient demographics
- Reviews and administers both emergency ambulance and clinic billing
- Interacts with and assists the general public via telephone, email, or in person to provide support, information, and assistance with ambulance-related information and Burke County's permit processes
- Reviews and records daily ambulance reports; reviews and processes health insurance; and prepares and monitors patient transportation
- Reviews and processes various clinical bills for assorted county departments
- Prepares monthly, quarterly, and annual reports, calendars, and permits as required by federal, state, and local law
- Reviews and processes debt set off accounts and ambulance collections
- Performs other duties as required or assigned
- High School Diploma or GED
- at least one (1) to three (3) years of experience in the medical or another related field (or a combination of education and experience) developing the necessary knowledge and skill to perform the duties of this position
- Certified Ambulance Coder (within 1 year of hire)
- Standard vision requirements, with or without corrective lenses
- Occasionally lifts up to ten (10) pounds
- Occasionally spends time standing, walking, and reaching with hands and arms
- Routinely spends time sitting, speaking or hearing, using hands or fingers to handle, feel, type, or text, engaging in repetitive motions
- Proficient in spoken and written English
- Ability to express and exchange ideas through verbal communication
- Ability to convey detailed instructions loudly, accurately, and/or quickly
- Ability to receive detailed instructions or information through verbal communication
- Ability to prepare and analyze written or computer data
- Ability to observe general surroundings and activities
- Ability to operate and use systems, technologies, and machines required to perform duties of this position
- Ability to select, evaluate, and interpret data from several sources, such as guidelines, policies, and procedures
- Demonstrates organizational and time management skills
- Demonstrates analytical, decision-making, and problem-solving skills.
