Print Shop-  Graphic Designer/Artist

POSITION OBJECTIVE:    Responsible for the day-to-day production within the print shop that designs and prints point of sale (POS) print ads, flyers, signs and promotional materials for the Sales Department.  Plans, schedules, executes, and oversees all production activities while maintaining a team approach and open communication with the sales team.  Investigate and resolve any production issues or errors.  

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:         

• Design and prepare POS materials using computer programs, printers and cutters to produce posters, signs, table tents, menus, brochures, banners, etc.
• Determine size and arrangement of illustrative material and copy, selects size of type, and arranges layout based on available space and aesthetic design concepts.
• Assemble final layout and prints.
• Assist sales staff in design or ideas for retail accounts.
• Maintains files on logos, past projects, designs, displays and related items available for future projects.
• Work within the assigned budget and make recommendations as appropriate.
• Maintains inventory of graphic materials, supplies and equipment.
• Prepares supply orders and maintains supply levels necessary to guarantee timely production of requested print material.
• Makes recommendations to increase efficiency or production quality as appropriate.  
• Attend all scheduled meetings and conduct oneself in a professional manner that is supportive of management.
• Maintain a clean, organized, safe and secure work area.
• Follow all safety policies and procedures.
• Other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

• High school diploma or equivalent (GED) required.
• Bachelor’s Degree in Design, Graphic or Commercial Art preferred.
• Two years’ experience designing and producing marketing print material required.
• Experience with CorelDraw software preferred.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

• Must be able to safely lift and handle POS material and supplies weighing up to 40 pounds.
• Must be able to climb a ladder and work while on a ladder occasionally.
• Must be well organized, able to prioritize tasks, handle multiple projects and meet deadlines
• Strong lettering, illustration and graphic design skills.
• Proficient computer design skills and MS Office (Word, Excel, and Outlook).
• Must have excellent grammar, spelling and proofreading skills.
• Must be detail oriented.
• Must be a team player and demonstrate positive work behaviors and attitude.
• Must be professional in interactions with vendors, customers and staff.
• Must be able to take direction well from supervisor and other staff.  
• Bilingual, Spanish fluency a plus.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:

This position requires a self-motivated individual who is able to work quickly, accurately and effectively with a sense of urgency about getting work done in an efficient manner while maintaining a high level of attention to detail. This position involves work requiring sitting, stooping, bending, kneeling, pivot twisting, lifting, carrying, pushing and pulling. Typical work schedule is 7:00am-3:30pm Monday-Friday, but must be flexible regarding changes in work schedule as operations and customers needs change.

Salary : $50,000 - $57,000
