Shift Manager

Responsibilities

• Supervise daily store operations during assigned shifts, ensuring efficient workflow and adherence to company policies.
• Lead and motivate retail staff by providing clear direction, training, and ongoing development to enhance team performance.
• Manage employee scheduling, onboarding, and conducting interviews to build a strong, reliable sales team.
• Oversee inventory management including stock replenishment, merchandising, pricing accuracy, and stock control to meet sales goals.
• Handle customer inquiries and resolve issues promptly with excellent customer service skills, maintaining positive shopping experiences.
• Utilize POS (Point of Sale) systems for sales transactions, cash handling, and payroll processing with accuracy.
• Monitor sales performance metrics and implement strategies to boost retail sales while managing operational costs within budget.

Skills

• Proven experience in supervising teams within the retail industry, with strong leadership and management capabilities.
• Excellent communication skills in multiple languages or bilingual proficiency preferred for diverse customer engagement.
• Strong organizational skills with the ability to multitask effectively in a fast-paced environment.
• Proficiency in inventory management systems, POS systems, and basic bookkeeping or payroll functions.
• Skilled in negotiation, purchasing, pricing strategies, and retail math to optimize store profitability.
• Demonstrated experience in employee orientation, training & development, interviewing, and recruiting top talent.
• Knowledge of retail store product lines including grocery or general merchandise is advantageous.
• Ability to manage cash handling procedures accurately and ensure compliance with safety standards.
