Area Inspection Manager - Central Texas
Reports to: Regional Director of Operations

Working under the direction of the Regional Director of Operations, is responsible for planning, assigning, and directing the activities of inspection services staff within a regional service area, managing relationships with key clients (existing and targeted opportunities) in support of annual business plan for the business line and promoting BV within the code compliance community to achieve organic growth objectives

Responsibilities and Duties:
- Within a specific regional service area, plans, assigns, directs, reviews, and evaluates the work of inspectors engaged in field inspection duties.
- Maintains open communications to inspectors within regional service area on important company updates, status, and information and industry codes.
- Establish schedule for meetings on a regular basis with inspectors and key clients to review performance and to identify additional business opportunities.
- Assists the Regional Director of Operations to evaluate recruitment needs and actively recruits inspector candidates.
- Coordinates training programs with the Regional Director of Operations and other area inspection managers to keep inspectors current on education and training.
- Works with Regional Director of Operations on inspector performance and disciplinary issues.
- Writes performance evaluations and conducts performance meetings with inspectors to provide feedback on an annual basis.
- Works with the Regional Director of Operations when new hires come onboard. Assists with new hire paperwork collection, equipment assignment, etc.
- Provides leadership and builds positive team chemistry on company projects.
- Performs on-site inspection and evaluation of construction projects.
- Assists and advises clients and inspectors in matters relating to residential and commercial construction and code requirements.
- Independently recognizes, evaluates and properly resolves unique problems or situations requiring the exercise of good judgment.
- Manages and approves regional inspection team’s workload and schedules including timesheet and expense report approval.
- Develop quarterly meeting schedule and provide quarterly summary on all meetings in a timely manner.
- Meet with each inspector within regional service area on a monthly basis and visit all agencies within regional service area at least quarterly to identify future opportunities.
- Identify and maintain minimum of 3 active business opportunities, and develop a commercial action plan in conjunction with Regional Director of Operations and the marketing staff and executes plan providing regular feedback.
- MINIMUM ACCEPTABLE EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- Any combination of education or experience normally equivalent to;
- Education: A high school diploma or equivalent, preferably supplemented by additional training in building inspection, structural engineering, or a related field. An Associate Degree in engineering, architecture, building inspection, or related field, or equivalent ICC certification level is a plus.
- Experience: at least seven (7) years experience as a building inspector, with at least two (2) years of supervisory experience is preferred.
- ICC Combination Inspector certifications and/or CBO certification preferred.
- Must possess and maintain a State Plumbing Inspector license.
- Strong knowledge of building and related municipal codes, building inspection methods and techniques, construction materials, methods and techniques, principals of supervision, administration and management.
- Thorough knowledge of the industry and established relations with client contracts.
- Strong communication skills, both written and oral, and the ability to work well with people.
- Positive attitude towards company and clients.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships.
