What are the responsibilities and job description for the Bio Science Tech (Plants) position at Bureau of Land Management?
This position is located in BLM Oregon State Office. The position may be filled in the Medford District Office, Medford, OR or Siuslaw Field Office, Springfield, OR. The purpose is to accomplish duties in support of botany programs.
Qualifications:

Specialized Experience:Applicants must have one full year of specialized experience comparable in scope and responsibility to the GS-06 grade level in the Federal service (obtained either in the private or public sectors) performing the following: (1) collecting data relating to plant species; (2) entering field data into computerized databases.; (3) reading maps and using Global Positioning Systems (GPS) equipment to determine locations; (4) conducting inventories or studies of plant species.

Education: Successful completion of one full year of graduate level education in a field directly related to the work of the position, such as biology, chemistry, statistics, botany, physics, agriculture, or mathematics.
OR
Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) by 18. Add the two percentages.

Responsibilities:
Major duties include planning and conducting botany inventories and studies which are similar to previous such efforts, analyzing inventory or study data, and preparing data so as to be suitable for inclusion in plans or study reports. Collects ecological site information for sensitive, threatened, or endangered plants as well as population distributions, condition, trend, associated species, landform of occurrence, geology, and soil type to determine factors limiting distribution and potential for enhancement through management measures. Serves as Crew Lead for specific projects. Compiles data into appropriate reports. Enters and retrieves data from automated databases.Salary : $46,696 - $60,703
