Role Description
This is a full-time, on-site role for a Heavy Equipment Operator located in Charleston, WV. The Heavy Equipment Operator will be tasked with the operation and maintenance of heavy equipment, executing excavation and site preparation activities, and handling used equipment in support of various construction and improvement projects. The position requires adherence to safety standards and involves close collaboration with team members to ensure timely project completion.
Job Overview
- Job Title: Heavy Equipment Operator.
- Experience Required: Minimum 10 years verified operating experience.
- Employment Type: Full-time / Permanent.
- Location: Mostly Kanawha & Putnam County
- Hours of Operation: Monday – Friday / 7:00-4:00 with a one hour lunch.
- Core Role: Execute precision grading, excavation, slopes, and footers.
- Safety Mandate: Zero-accident record
Required Equipment Expertise
- Excavators: Trenching, mass excavation, footers and utility placement.
- Bulldozers: Finish grading, cut & fill.
- Compactor: Vibratory drum compactor.
- Motor Grader: Operation of a plus but not required.
- Telehandler: Loading & unloading of material, setting metal structures.
- Tri-Axle Dump: Hauling, Loading & dumping of material.
Key Responsibilities
- Site Planning: Interpret blueprints, grade stakes, and construction plans.
- Equipment Care: Perform daily pre-trip inspections and fluid maintenance.
- Safety Compliance: Adhere strictly to OSHA and MSHA regulations.
4. Candidate Qualifications
- Licensing: Valid Commercial Driver’s License (CDL Class A preferred).
- Certifications: OSHA 10-Hour or 30-Hour Construction Safety card.
- Physical Capacity: Ability to lift 80 pounds and climb machinery.
- Medical Fitness: Pass a DOT physical and drug screening.
