Burcham Hills is an upscale senior living retirement community located in the backyard of Michigan State University in East Lansing, MI. We currently have a vacancy as a Security Officer/Guard to work a Full Time schedule. In this role a Security Officer/Guard is responsible for assisting in the day to day operation of the Security department to ensure the safety of the Community, its residents, staff and visitors and in addition to but not limited to the following duties:
Qualifications: Completed required coursework and exam for Emergency Medical Technician for the State of Michigan is preferred. Maintain certificate as required through the State of Michigan. Or ability to take Medical First Responder classes within 90-days and obtain certificate. Current or previous experience in a Security role is preferred. Knowledge of standard safety and security and protocols. Ability to work extended or flexible hours, as necessary. Ability to read, write, speak, and comprehend written and oral instructions in English effectively.

- Performs scheduled rounds both inside and outside of the buildings to maintain a safe and secure environment.
- Monitors and maintains scheduled security checks.
- Responsible for assisting in all phases of safety training including but not limited to performing fire drills and safety inspections and to make recommendations on needed corrections.
- Responds to emergency medical calls and emergency response system following standard operating procedure.
- Responsible for maintaining timely, accurate reports and logs, including, but not limited to, incident reports, accident reports, safety inspections, repair and service requests, emergency call logs, and delivering pass-on reports to relief officers.
- Responsible for investigating allegations of theft.
