OPENING DETAILS: Monday - Friday, 8 hours per day Work Hours: 6:00 a.m. - 2:30 p.m. (1/2 hour unpaid lunch) Salary Range: 43 (Employees new to the District will begin at Step-I) BASIC FUNCTION: Under the direction of an assigned supervisor, operate power mowing and related grounds equipment to maintain District grounds and various athletic fields in a clean and safe condition; trim and prune trees; prepare various athletic fields for classes, sports and other special events. Service and adjust equipment and perform other grounds maintenance duties.

ALL APPLICANTS MUST CREATE AN ACCOUNT THROUGH EDJOIN.ORG TO APPLY EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: Sufficient training and experience to demonstrate KNOWLEDGE OF: Methods, materials, tools and large power equipment used in grounds keeping; operation and maintenance of power grounds equipment, and tools used in grounds department; operation of vehicles used in grounds department; health and safety regulations pertaining to position; safe and proper tree trimming and pruning methods; requirements of maintaining school grounds in a safe, clean and orderly condition; proper methods of storing equipment, materials and supplies; herbicides, pesticides, and other chemicals used in grounds maintenance. ABILITY TO: perform responsible grounds keeping duties; operate and maintain power grounds equipment and tools; exercise caution and be alert to children while mowing school lawns and fields; trim and prune tall trees in a safe and proper manner; climb ladders and trees using climbing gear and equipment; maintain routine records and logs on equipment; understand and follow oral and written directions; use herbicides and other chemicals using safe and proper methods; work cooperatively and effectively with others; perform heavy manual labor; lift objects weighing up to 50 pounds using safe and proper methods and/or equipment; move objects weighing over 50 pounds using safe and proper methods and/or equipment; operate motorized vehicles and grounds equipment including manual transmissions. Two years grounds keeping or related experience including experience in the operation of power mowing equipment or trimming trees.
