Summary:
Perform real estate development, community development, administrative, technical tasks, and analysis under the supervision of the Associate Director of Housing Development in the development of housing projects.
Specific Duties and Responsibilities. The following reflects Burbank Housing’s definition of essential functions for this job. Duties are defined, in primary areas of responsibility, but such classification does not restrict the tasks that may be assigned.
- Assists in coordinating with others in Burbank’s development department to determine project feasibility, ensure regulatory compliance, and to facilitate a successful transition of projects from development to operations.
- Coordinates resident relocation plans and performs tasks necessary to gather resident input and acceptance of rehabilitation projects.
- Performs tasks necessary to obtain local approvals and neighborhood acceptance of proposed housing projects, including submitting land use applications, attending hearings and neighborhood meetings, and fostering a team approach to obtaining neighborhood acceptance.
- Coordinates the activities of architects, engineers, contractors, and other members of the project development team. Provides updates to the Associate Director of Housing Development as necessary.
- Prepares and submits funding applications in accordance with all requirements of the funding source.
- Assists in other duties as assigned by the Associate Director of Housing Development and the VP of Residential Development.

- Strong oral and written communication skills.
- Detailed oriented, especially in creation and analysis of financial spreadsheets.
- Computer proficiency level in MS Office Suite software
- Demonstrates ability to handle multiple tasks and prioritize workload.
- Ability to quickly develop proficiency in property management and accounting software such as Yardi Voyager and related software applications as needed.
Minimal Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree in Economics, Planning or related field. (Four years of experience working directly in affordable housing development may be substituted for this requirement.)
- Minimum two-year of experience in related work.
- Project Management Certification a plus
Language Skills:
- Ability to write clear and concise business correspondence.
- Strong ability to communicate effectively with executives, department heads, business partners, agency representatives and field employees via telephone and email.
- Ability to clearly document processes related to diverse projects.
Mathematical Skills:
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
Reasoning Abilities:
Ability to collect data to establish facts, draw valid conclusions, and make recommendations.
Physical Demands:
While performing the duties of this job, employee is regularly required to walk; sit; use hands to handle objects/operate keyboards, tools or controls; reach with hands and arms; stoop; kneel and crouch; see, talk and hear.
Work Environment:
The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
