Reporting to the Director of Community Integration Services, the Enrollment & Success Counselor will support prospective, new, and continuing students to enroll and successfully integrate into the broader college community, with special attention to immigrant-origin students. This position will assist students with all aspects of enrolling at the College, including but not limited to: admissions, placement testing, financial aid, course registration, retention, transfer, and career planning. The counselor will provide tailored guidance based on how individual circumstances that may affect the enrollment process for immigrant-origin students. In addition to assisting with enrollment, the Enrollment & Success Counselor will support student success by organizing informational sessions and workshops that fosters a sense of belonging and equip immigrant-origin students with the navigational tools to thrive in their new environment.

This is a hybrid position that requires both in-person and remote work. Availability in the evenings and weekends is required.

Responsibilities:

Enrollment and Student Support Services (70%)

  • Assist new degree and non-degree students with all aspects of enrollment.
  • Provide one-on-one and group support to immigrant-origin students and their families for college application steps, reviewing admissions requirements, processing course waivers, and registering for classes.
  • Conduct outreach calls to prospective, new, and continuing immigrant-origin students.
  • Assist immigrant-origin students with identifying and completing the appropriate financial aid applications, including the FAFSA, MASFA and scholarships.
  • Provide guidance on financial planning and maximizing scholarship opportunities.
  • Refer students to appropriate college departments for further support related to academic, personal, or financial concerns.
  • Support LifeMap and Advising with advising and course registration assistance during peak registration periods.
  • Monitor and triage Community Integration Services email; respond to application, enrollment, and financial aid inquiries, connect students and their families to academic and enrollment support departments, as needed.
  • Use appropriate software, student information, and communication relationship management systems to support student enrollment.
  • Utilize TargetX CRM and Retention Suite to document student interactions, monitor student engagement and persistence, identify students who may benefit from additional support, and coordinate timely interventions and referrals.

Programming and Community Engagement (30%)

  • Collaborate with the Director of Community Integration Services and Admissions staff on outreach events for prospective students from high schools and community-based organizations, including students participating in BHCC's Dual Enrollment and Early College programs.
  • Assist in creating and delivering programs and workshop to support immigrant-origin student success and engagement.
  • Build collaborative relationships with other campus partners and departments to deliver tailored programming and support students' ability to build connections and access appropriate success services.
  • Participate in college meetings, community engagement, and outreach activities as needed.
  • Be a part of 2 evening and 4 Saturday enrollment events per semester.

Required Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Education, Counseling, Psychology, Sociology or a closely related field, with two years of experience and/or training involving college admissions, academic advisement, career development, or program/project development and/or management; or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
  • Experience working with diverse students in a fast-paced student services or equivalent setting.
  • Demonstrate and possess a strong ability to communicate effectively and work collaboratively with a wide range of people and groups.
  • Possess excellent interpersonal relationship-building skills.
  • Proficiency in student information systems as well as MS Word and Excel.
  • Ability to work on weekends and evenings when needed.

Preferred Requirements:

  • Bilingual in Haitian Creole, Portuguese, Spanish, Arabic or another language commonly spoken by BHCC students
  • Experience working at a community college, nonprofit, and/or community-based organization.
  • Demonstrate understanding or willingness to learn about national, state and local laws and policies that affect immigrant-origin students in Massachusetts.
  • Experience using student success and customer relationship management (CRM) platforms, such as TargetX and Retention Suite, to support enrollment management, student engagement, and retention initiatives.

Additional Information:
Salary: $36.55 at 18.5 hours a week. Part-Time Non-Benefited position
