JOB TITLE: Controls Engineer

Summary:

This position is primarily responsible for completing all assigned projects by performing the following duties.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Core duties and responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

·       Complete projects, concepts, and/or updates assigned by the deadline.

·       Design and release all electrical drawings and stock lists for the project, verification that the project has been designed to Customer Build Specifications and Requirements.

·       Meet with customers as required for concept reviews, design reviews, engineering changes, and other design and build issues regarding the project.

·       Meet with vendors to determine which products are best for the project currently being designed with Project Engineer.

·       Responsible for checking other design projects and assisting on other projects as assigned and needed.

·       Assist the manufacturing floor in resolving build problems or questions as they arise on the shop floor to ensure no delay in the build schedule.

·       Program PLC and/or HMI with software to complete the job. Additional items may be required for programming (Robots, motors, servo, etc)

·       Responsible for updating electrical prints after they are turned in to engineering for update.

·       Assist in generating prints and other documentation for customer manuals.

Qualifications

Education and/or Experience                                          

Three to five years’ experience as a mechanical design engineer. Electrical Engineering Degree or equivalent experience required.

Language Skills                                     

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.

Mathematical Skills                                         

Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.

Reasoning Ability                                  

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

Computer Skills                

Microsoft Office Products, Allen Bradley 500 / 5000, Allen Bradley Panel Build, Siemens S7 software.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles; toxic or caustic chemicals and risk of electrical shock. The employee is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions (non-weather); working near moving mechanical parts; outdoor weather conditions; extreme cold (non-weather) and extreme heat (non-weather).

The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
