Position Summary:
Enka High School is seeking a dynamic, committed, and knowledgeable Head Volleyball Coach to lead our varsity volleyball program beginning in June 2025. The successful candidate will be responsible for all aspects of the volleyball program, including organizing and supervising practices, developing student-athletes, building a positive team culture, managing assistant coaches, and representing the program within the school and community. The coach will be expected to promote a student-centered, character-driven, and competitive environment aligned with the educational mission of our school and athletic department.

Key Responsibilities:
Program Leadership & Culture
Lead, plan, and implement a comprehensive high school volleyball program that includes varsity, JV, and potential middle school alignment.
Establish a positive, inclusive team culture focused on sportsmanship, accountability, and personal growth.
Model and instill high standards of character, commitment, discipline, and academic excellence in student-athletes.
Serve as a role model and mentor to student-athletes, building lasting relationships that support lifelong success.
Coaching & Instruction
Plan and execute daily practices focused on skill development, game strategy, conditioning, and team cohesion.
Develop and teach age-appropriate technical and tactical volleyball instruction.
Evaluate athlete performance and provide constructive feedback to enhance individual and team success.
Foster an environment that promotes student-athlete enjoyment, participation, and competitive excellence.
Program Administration
Organize and manage all team activities, including pre-season conditioning, in-season training, summer workouts, and offseason development.
Collaborate with the athletic director on scheduling practices, matches, transportation, and facility use.
Ensure compliance with all school, district, conference, and NCHSAA rules and regulations.
Maintain accurate team records, statistics, equipment inventory, and eligibility documentation.
Staff Supervision
Recruit, train, and supervise qualified assistant and JV coaches who align with the program’s vision and values.
Foster professional development and consistent coaching across all levels of the program.
Communicate clear expectations, roles, and responsibilities for all coaching staff members.
Communication & Community Engagement
Maintain ongoing communication with players, parents, athletic department staff, and school administration.
Conduct preseason parent meetings and maintain regular updates on schedules, expectations, and program initiatives.
Collaborate with booster organizations and community stakeholders to enhance program resources and visibility.
Represent the school with professionalism and integrity at all athletic and school events.
Athlete Development & Well-Being
Promote and monitor academic achievement, school attendance, and behavior of student-athletes.
Coordinate with guidance counselors, athletic trainers, and strength coaches to support holistic student-athlete development.
Emphasize health, wellness, injury prevention, and safe playing techniques at all times.
Minimum Degree Level: High school or equivalent
Preferred Qualifications:
Prior head coaching experience at the high school or club level (minimum 3–5 years preferred but not required).
Demonstrated success in program-building, leadership, and athlete development.
Valid teaching license or classified employee status (preferred but not required).
CPR/First Aid Certification (required to coach in North Carolina).
Completion of NFHS Coaching Certifications and Concussion in Sports Training (Required to coach in North Carolina).
Strong communication, organization, and interpersonal skills.
Commitment to the mission, vision, values, and educational priorities of Enka High School.
Pay Scale: High School Sports (Salary is determined based on the particular sport and coaching experience)
Compensation:
Potential for additional compensation through summer responsibilities, camps, and clinics.
Teaching or classified assignment may be available based on qualifications and school needs but not required for hire as volleyball coach.
