Primary Purpose:
Direct and assist in managing assigned areas of student discipline and campus operations. Oversee assigned student activities and services.
Qualifications:
Education/Certification:
Master's degree from accredited university
Special Knowledge/Skills:
Knowledge of campus operations
Ability to implement discipline and procedures
Ability to interpret data
Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
Experience:
Two years experience as a classroom teacher
Two years experience as campus administrator
Major Responsibilities and Duties
- Enforcing discipline policies: Implementing a school or district's student code of conduct and managing disciplinary actions
- Ensuring compliance: Making sure all disciplinary actions adhere to Texas Education Code, federal guidelines, and local board policies.
- Providing support: Assisting teachers with classroom management, intervening in crisis situations, and supporting students' behavioral and academic needs.
- Analyzing data: Using data to understand student behavior patterns and inform intervention strategies.
- Collaborating with stakeholders: Working with teachers, administrators, parents, and students to develop and implement behavior plans and support systems.
- Work in conjunction with Cougar Academy to best support students
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Knowledge of rules and regulations associated with the Student code of Conduct, TEA regulations regarding restraints and the reporting of restraints, classroom management practices, and social and emotional learning core competencies
Knowledge of the elements of restorative practices, trauma-informed practices and culturally responsive practices
Knowledge of a variety of behavior intervention strategies and how to implement them in the classroom
Knowledge of Positive Behavior Intervention and Supports
Strong organization and communication (written and oral) skills
Ability to create presentations and strong presentation skills
Student Management
May act as campus behavioral coordinator in accordance with state laws and regulations.
Work with faculty and students to develop a student discipline management system that results in positive student behavior and enhances the school climate.
Ensure that school rules are uniformly applied and that student discipline is appropriate and equitable in accordance with Student Code of Conduct and student handbook.
Conduct conferences about student and school issues with parents, students, and teachers.
Ensure that students are adequately supervised during noninstructional periods.
Administration and Fiscal/Facilities Management
Assist in reporting and monitoring of student attendance and work with staff to identify and address issues.
Requisition supplies, textbooks, and equipment and monitor and maintain inventory in accordance with district procedures.
Coordinate operational support services such as transportation and cafeteria to best meet student needs.
Comply with district policies, state and federal laws, and regulations affecting schools.
Demonstrate awareness of school-community needs and initiate activities to meet those needs using appropriate and effective techniques to encourage community and parent involvement.
Follow district safety protocols and emergency procedures.
