Heavy-Duty Diesel Technician

Full-Time | $28–$38/hour based on experience
Bulls Bay Diesel is a growing heavy-duty truck repair shop in North Charleston, and we're looking for experienced diesel technicians to join our team.
We recently expanded our shop space and are adding technicians as we grow. We're a straightforward independent diesel shop. We stay busy, and need good technicians who can diagnose problems, make quality repairs, and get equipment back on the road.
The right technician will have their own service bay and a steady workload.
What You'll Be Working On
Our work is primarily Class 8 trucks and commercial fleet equipment, including Peterbilt, Kenworth, International, Freightliner and other heavy-duty trucks.
Typical work includes:
- Diesel engine diagnostics and repair
- Electrical diagnostics and repair
- DPF, DOC, SCR and DEF/aftertreatment systems
- Air brake and air system repairs
- Cooling systems
- Steering and suspension
- Preventive maintenance
- DOT-related repairs
- General heavy-duty truck repair
- Engine and drivetrain work based on experience
We regularly work with PACCAR, Cummins and Detroit-powered equipment.
What We're Looking For
We're looking for technicians who know heavy-duty trucks and take pride in doing the job right.
You don't need to know everything, but you need to be dependable, willing to work, and capable of completing repairs without constant supervision.
Strong diagnostic skills are a big plus, particularly electrical and aftertreatment diagnostics.
Applicants should have their own tool box and equipment. The shop will provide all diagnostic tools and specialty tools.
Pay
$28–$38 per hour based on experience and ability.
We are willing to pay at the upper end of the range for an experienced technician who can independently diagnose and repair difficult heavy-duty truck problems.
Our standard productivity expectation is a minimum of 25 completed billable hours per week with quality work and no avoidable rework.
Technicians who exceed the weekly productivity standard are eligible for additional performance bonuses.
We keep a steady workload in the shop and want good technicians to be rewarded for getting quality work completed efficiently.
