Overview
We are seeking a skilled Heavy Railroad Equipment Mechanic to join our dynamic team. In this vital role, you will be responsible for maintaining, repairing, and troubleshooting a wide range of heavy railroad equipment to ensure operational efficiency and safety. Your expertise will help keep our projects on track and our equipment in top condition, supporting the vital transportation infrastructure we serve.
Responsibilities
- Perform diagnostics, repairs, and preventive maintenance on heavy railroad machinery and equipment
- Conduct fabrication and welding tasks to repair or modify equipment components
- Troubleshoot mechanical systems including transmissions, hydraulics, suspension, air brakes, and electrical systems
- Operate heavy equipment such as excavators, cranes, forklifts, and other industrial machinery safely and efficiently
- Maintain detailed service records and documentation of all repairs performed
- Assist with equipment assembly, alignment, tire service, and general maintenance tasks to maximize uptime
Requirements
- Proven experience in heavy equipment operation and repair within a construction or industrial setting
- Strong mechanical knowledge of diesel engines, transmissions, hydraulics, suspension systems, and electrical systems
- Skilled in use of hand tools, power tools, and soldering techniques
- Experience with automotive diagnostics and vehicle maintenance for trucks or railroad equipment
- Knowledge of air brake systems, tire service, HVAC systems for industrial equipment, and heavy truck repair preferred
- Ability to perform heavy lifting safely while maintaining attention to detail during repairs
- Must be willing to travel and have reliable transportation
Pay: $28.26 - $34.04 per hour
