Bullitt Alternative Center is seeking a dedicated Instructional Assistant to support student learning and work collaboratively with our school team.
Position Overview
The Instructional Assistant will work closely with certified teachers to:
- Provide instruction to students individually and in small groups
- Support positive student behavior and classroom management
- Collaborate with staff to promote student academic and behavioral success

Collect and track student data to inform instructional decisions
Position Details
Hours: 6.5 hours per day (plus a 30 minute unpaid lunch)
Contract Length: 185 days per year
- 170 student instructional days
- 4 holidays
- 7 planning days
- 4 extended days
Contract Adjustments: Contracted days will be prorated based on the start date
Employment Status: Full-time with benefits
Minimum Qualifications
Education: High school diploma or equivalent (required)
- Must provide a copy to HR upon recommendation for hire.
Experience: New employees may bring in up to 10 years of comparable, full-time, verified experience.
The hired applicant is responsible for submitting the BCPS Verification of Experience Form to prior employers for completion and return to HR.
Compensation
Step 0: $15.98/hour
Step 10: $19.67/hour
Although classified positions are paid hourly, pay is spread evenly across 26 paychecks per year.
This position is considered a 10-month employee, with 4 paychecks issued at the end of June.
Salary Formula: Hours per day × Hourly rate = Daily rate <> Daily rate × Contracted days = Annual salary. <> Annual salary ÷ Remaining pay periods = Gross biweekly pay
