Role Description The Associate will work full time on-site at the firm’s Columbus, OH office. Day-to-day responsibilities include managing a caseload of employment law matters, conducting legal research, drafting pleadings, motions, demand letters, and client correspondence, and assisting with discovery, including document review and witness preparation. The role involves regular client meetings, case strategy discussions, and collaboration with partners and legal staff to prepare for negotiations, mediations, and litigation. The Associate will help evaluate potential cases, support settlement negotiations, and maintain organized case files and deadlines to ensure high-quality, timely representation.

Qualifications

  • Licensed attorney in good standing with the Ohio bar (or eligibility for admission), with 1–3 years of litigation or employment law experience preferred.
  • Strong legal research and writing skills, including the ability to draft clear, persuasive motions, briefs, and client communications.
  • Experience with client-facing work, such as interviewing clients, gathering facts, and providing straightforward, empathetic guidance.
  • Solid understanding or strong interest in employment law issues, including discrimination, harassment, retaliation, wage and hour, and leave-related claims.
  • Ability to manage multiple cases, meet deadlines, and maintain meticulous attention to detail in a fast-paced environment.
  • Collaborative mindset, with the ability to work effectively with partners, paralegals, and support staff, while also handling responsibilities independently.
  • Proficiency with common legal research tools and basic office technology; experience with case management software is a plus.
  • Commitment to equitable workplace rights and providing high-quality, non-discriminatory representation to clients from diverse backgrounds.
