SUMMARY:
The Director of Sprinkler Sales is responsible for maintaining and growing market share through distribution and direct sales. Responsibilities include driving sustainable financial growth through boosting sales and forging strong relationships with current and potential customers, as well as the sharing of voice of customer ("VOC") data with Sales, Demand Planning, Operations, Marketing and Engineering to ensure company remains the service leader in the markets they serve. The Director of Sprinkler Sales also assists with new product development and other innovations intended to grow our business and help our customers reduce total cost of ownership.
ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Effectively build relationships with external customers and internal partners, negotiating supply, identifying new products/technology, pricing, and payment agreements with key customers in collaboration with the EVP, Chief Commercial Officer.
- Develop business development goals for business growth and ensure they are met. Plan and oversee new sales and marketing initiatives.
- Increase the value of current customers while attracting new ones, identify and develop potential customers, establish rapport, and arrange meetings. Develop quotes and proposals for current and prospective customers.
- Create share of wallet analysis, sales pipeline, annual budgets, and monthly forecasts to execute plan. Proactively identify gaps in sales budget and forecasts and develop an action plan to mitigate gaps.
- Proactively communicate business risks by gathering competitive intelligence on products, regulations, technologies, and business in general.
- Utilize CRM for reporting customer facing activities, maintaining, analyzing, and reporting Inside Sales metrics and KPIs.
- Demonstrate use of effective selling techniques and problem solving over the phone.
- Attend conferences, meetings, and industry events; expected travel upwards of 50%.
- Mentor and develop team members, allocating work allocations, system training, performance evaluations, and the building of an effective and efficient team dynamic.
- Perform other related duties as required and assigned.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Strategic mindset with sound technical skills, analytical ability, good judgment, strong operational focus, and critical thinking.
- Ability to work effectively in a team-based environment, developing and maintaining constructive and productive business relationships and cross-functional collaboration.
- Self-motivated, organized, proactive and driven with demonstrated sound judgement and decision-making abilities.
- Ability to grasp overall business concepts, pricing, and margin drivers.
- Strong history of building cross-functional, matrix team relationships.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including excellent listening and presentation skills. Must be able to effectively communicate at all levels and be comfortable leading meetings with senior management.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- BS in business, marketing, sales, or a related field.
- At least 7 years of experience in sales role(s) of increasing responsibility; at least 5 years of experience leading a sales team.
- Demonstratable results of having increased sales or share within strategic customer base and people development.
- Experience in a Manufacturing environment and/or the Steel industry preferred.
