Built is looking for a Food Safety and Quality Assurance (FSQA) Director responsible for ensuring that our products meet the highest standards of compliance, safety, and quality. This role will oversee multiple manufacturing locations and help lead and implement companywide food safety initiatives.

Built is looking for a Food Safety and Quality Assurance (FSQA) Director responsible for ensuring that our products meet the highest standards of compliance, safety, and quality. This role will oversee multiple manufacturing locations and help lead and implement companywide food safety initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and develop a team of managers to ensure company policies and procedures meet regulatory, industry, and company expectations and requirements
- Oversee FSQ systems including audit readiness, program validation, inventory controls, and product lifecycle management
- Drive continuous improvement in food safety and quality processes, measure performance against key performance indicators, and support the building of a strong food safety culture at the company
- Report and update metrics on the quality scorecard to executive leadership
- Collaborate cross functionally with other members of leadership including operations, human resources, finance, engineering, research and development, maintenance, marketing, and sales
- Serve on the food safety leadership team and support initiatives to mitigate risk and drive best in class quality
- Hold members of the FSQA team accountable and reward outstanding performance
- Establish and maintain preventative controls like allergen controls, good manufacturing practices, process control points, and foreign material control programs.
- Remain informed and up to date on current events and issues in the food industry like customer sentiment, changing regulations, and emerging trends as they relate to food safety and quality
- 10 years experience in quality assurance related work and 5 years in a leadership role
- Bachelor’s degree in Food Science, Microbiology, Business, Chemical Engineering, or other related fields. An advanced degree such as a master’s degree or MBA are not required but preferred
- Strong collaborative skills and capability to enforce company policy and standards to educate other team and leadership members
- Demonstrated experience leading multi-site quality organizations and teams
- Proficient with Microsoft tools and prior experience with data analytics and making data driven decisions
- Must have a GFSI or other relevant food safety certification (i.e. SQF, PCQI, BRC, ISO, or FSSC). SQF and PCQI certifications are preferred but not mandatory
