Job Title: Machinist / Mechanical Technician
Position Summary
Seeking a hands-on Machinist / Mechanical Technician to support a high-mix, low-volume manufacturing environment. The role involves machining custom parts, assisting with equipment evaluation and repair, and supporting assembly activities for specialized mechanical systems. The ideal candidate will have experience operating manual and CNC machinery, reading technical drawings, and performing mechanical troubleshooting and repairs.
Key Responsibilities
- Manufacture parts from engineering drawings and specifications using manual and semi-automatic machining equipment.
- Operate manual lathes, milling machines, drill presses, and related shop equipment.
- Utilize CNC milling and lathe equipment for production and prototype work.
- Perform basic CNC programming and machine setup.
- Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and manufacturing drawings.
- Assist with inspection, evaluation, disassembly, repair, and reassembly of mechanical equipment such as pumps, valves, and related components.
- Support assembly and development of new mechanical product lines.
- Maintain accurate inventory records of spare parts and consumables; coordinate replenishment as needed.
- Follow all workplace safety procedures and OSHA regulations.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
- Collaborate effectively with team members while also working independently when required.
- Provide professional support and maintain positive customer interactions when necessary.
Qualifications
- Technical school, community college, trade school, military technical training, or equivalent education in machining, mechanical technology, electronics, or a related field.
- Minimum of 2 years of machining experience.
- Experience operating manual machining equipment, including lathes and vertical milling machines.
- Familiarity with CNC machining equipment and basic programming.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints and manufacture components to print specifications.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Word and Excel.
- Valid driver's license and insurable driving record.
- Ability to travel periodically within the region as needed.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and within a team environment.
- Excellent communication and customer service skills.
Pay: $26.02 - $30.95 per hour
