Building Steps Behavioral Health is seeking a compassionate and motivated Mental Health Therapist to join our team. This position is ideal for a master's-level behavioral health professional who has experience working with individuals affected by substance use disorders, mental health concerns, trauma, and co-occurring conditions. An independent clinical license is not required.
Qualifications
- Master’s degree REQUIRED in Counseling, Psychology, Social Work, Marriage and Family Therapy, or a related behavioral health field
- Independent clinical license is not required
- Experience working with substance use, addiction, recovery, or co-occurring mental health disorders
- Experience providing individual and/or family therapy preferred
- Knowledge of clinical assessments, treatment planning, progress notes, and discharge planning
- Strong communication, documentation, and organizational skills
- Bilingual English/Spanish preferred
- Ability to maintain professional boundaries, confidentiality, and ethical standards
Responsibilities
- Provide individual and/or family therapy to adolescents and adults
- Work with clients experiencing substance use, addiction, relapse concerns, anxiety, depression, trauma, and other behavioral health needs
- Complete assessments, individualized treatment plans, progress notes, and other required clinical documentation
- Develop treatment goals based on each client's needs
- Utilize evidence-based, trauma-informed, and person-centered interventions
- Teach coping skills, emotional regulation, relapse-prevention strategies, and healthy decision-making
- Coordinate care with behavioral health providers, recovery programs, probation, community agencies, and other supports as appropriate
- Participate in clinical supervision, staffing meetings, and required training
- Maintain timely and accurate clinical documentation
