Position Overview
Temporary Part-time, Bilingual Digital Skills Instructor (Spanish/English): The Bilingual Digital Skills Instructor trains property service workers (primarily janitors) in digital literacy, the ability to use communication and information technologies effectively and confidently in and out of the workplace. BSP’s Digital Literacy Program equips workers with practical computer and digital skills, preparing them to adapt to industry changes such as the increased use of apps and workplace software. Instruction includes an introduction to the internet and its uses, email, word processors, Google Workspace tools, and app navigation. This is a multi-level class with a full curriculum provided. Classes are conducted in-person and in Spanish.
The instructor will complete minimal administrative work in a timely fashion. Administrative duties may include, but are not limited to: maintaining class attendance and assessment records, completing timesheets on time, distributing flyers to students about additional educational opportunities, weekly check-in with class coordinator, and completing other BSP paperwork as necessary.
Teaching schedule for this position is Saturdays from 11am-1pm.
This is a part-time, temporary position dependent on hours and class availability. This position will not include benefits.
Experience & Education:
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree required.
- TESOL Certificate OR equivalent teaching experience required.
- Spanish conversation skills and/or fluence is required.
- M.A. in TESOL/TEFL and / or California Adult Ed Teaching Credential is highly preferred.
Experience:
- Experience teaching or training adults, especially adult Spanish-speakers
- Experience teaching computer/digital literacy strongly preferred
- Experience with low-literacy learners a plus
Skills & Abilities:
- Instructional skills: Ability to prepare and deliver engaging lessons, adapt materials for low-tech learners, and support multilevel classrooms.
- Digital competency: Working knowledge of Office Suite, Google Workspace, and workplace app navigation, with the ability to train beginner learners.
- Classroom management: Keep organized records of attendance, track student progress, and identify individual challenges.
- Student engagement: Build trust and connect respectfully with adult learners from diverse cultural and educational backgrounds.
- Communication: Teach primarily in Spanish, with flexibility to incorporate English when needed for clarity.
- Interpersonal skills: Patient, energetic, and approachable; able to create an inclusive, supportive learning environment.
- Professionalism: Strong organization, attention to detail, and reliability in completing administrative duties (attendance, timesheets, reporting) on time.
- Independence: Ability to work effectively with minimal supervision while staying aligned with BSP program expectations.
