General Definition of Work

The regional custodial services supervisor, under general supervision, performs supervisory work with limited decision-making discretion related to leading the delivery of custodial services and facilities management and providing customer service expertise to support efforts that ensure schools and other district sites are operating effectively, efficiently, and in compliance with federal, state and local laws and regulations for an assigned region. The position has direct supervision of assigned personnel. Responsibilities include planning, assigning, and directing work; addressing complaints and resolving problems; training employees; evaluating performance; and interviewing, testing, hiring, and assignment of personnel

Employee performs both school-based and district-level work to carry out Board of Education policies under the direction of the regional manager of custodial services.

Hourly NC 12/ Full-time, 12 months

Regional Manager of Custodial Services

 

Place of Work

The normal place of work is on the premises used by Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools. Charlotte- Mecklenburg Schools reserves the right to require you to work at such other place(s) as it may reasonably require from time to time.

 

Essential Functions

  • Adhere to all state, federal, and local laws, policies, and procedures
  • Provide leadership and oversight for custodial services within assigned region
  • Coordinate and monitor work schedules with school administrators ensuring assignments are accurate and complete
  • Supervise and oversee various projects and facility inspections assigned by the director of maintenance and operations and/or managers
  • Assist with the procurement of parts and supplies that may include budgetary cost, inventory, and ordering
  • Monitor availability and distribution of cleaning supplies, equipment, and other material inventory
  • May be required to report to or depart from multiple locations across the district
  • Train custodial employees to ensure best practices are followed in accordance with district and industry standards

 

  • Use the current work order system to monitor and/or assign daily tasks, projects, and materials
  • Evaluate the performance of subordinate personnel in accordance with district evaluation policies and guidelines
  • Meet with principals and other administrative staff to address cleaning and facilities support activity in schools
  • Required to have prompt, regular attendance in-person and be available to work on-site, in-person during regular business hours and as needed
  • Serve as a liaison and communication link between and among custodial and building services and the individual school staff (principals and site administrators)
  • Provide exceptional customer service on various issues relative to custodial services, facility management, and operations of assigned sites
  • Implement and enforce standards and objectives established by custodial services, environmental health & safety, and building services departments
  • Conduct periodic condition assessments/inspections and health and safety risk assessments to support department objectives and corrective action plans
  • Ensure the accurate completion of the daily payroll process
  • Respond to and assists with emergency responses (24/7) as directed
  • Perform related work as assigned or required
