Position Summary
The Warehouse Supervisor oversees daily warehouse operations to ensure efficient receiving, storage, order fulfillment, and shipping processes. This role is responsible for leading warehouse and delivery staff, maintaining inventory accuracy, enforcing safety and housekeeping standards, and supporting continuous improvement initiatives to meet company goals.
Key Responsibilities
Daily Operations
- Oversee all warehouse activities, including receiving, put-away, picking, staging, loading and shipping.
- Monitor workflow and assign tasks to ensure timely and accurate order fulfillment.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe warehouse environment.
- Work necessary inventory reports daily, weekly or monthly as assigned.
- Ensure delivery trucks are loaded on time daily.
Team Leadership
- Supervise, train, and mentor warehouse associates.
- Conduct daily start-up meetings and communicate operational priorities to team.
- Provide coaching, performance feedback, and corrective action when necessary.
- Assist in scheduling and managing labor to meet productivity targets.
- Help team complete tasks when needed.
Inventory Control
- Ensure accurate inventory counts and participate in cycle counts daily.
- Investigate and resolve inventory discrepancies.
- Maintain proper stock rotation and product handling procedures.
Equipment & Safety
- Enforce all safety rules, PPE requirements, and OSHA standards.
- Ensure forklift, pallet jack, and other equipment are properly maintained and operated safely.
- Report any safety concerns or equipment issues promptly.
Quality & Process Improvement
- Monitor KPIs such as pick accuracy, order turnaround time, and productivity.
- Identify areas for process improvement and implement best practices.
- Assist with developing and updating internal SOPs (Standard Operating Procedures).
Customer Service
- Work with customer service, sales, purchasing, and management to resolve order issues.
- Ensure all outbound orders meet quality standards and shipping requirements by following BPI processes.
Qualifications
Education & Experience
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- 4 years of warehouse, logistics, or distribution experience.
- 2 years of supervisory or lead experience preferred.
Skills & Competencies
- Strong leadership and communication skills.
- Ability to motivate, train, and hold staff accountable.
- Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Proficient with warehouse management systems (WMS), RF devices and basic computer applications.
- Ability to operate forklifts and other warehouse equipment (certification may be required).
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
- Previous box truck driving experience a plus but not required.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand, stoop, bend, twist, walk, and lift up to 65 lbs.
- Work in varying warehouse conditions, including hot/cold environments.
- Ability to operate warehouse equipment safely
