We are seeking a dedicated, dynamic, and experienced Music Teacher to step into an established role supporting multiple schools across our network. This is a high-impact position requiring someone who is ready to jump in quickly, maintain continuity for our students, and bring energy, creativity, and structure to an already thriving program.
Start Timeline:
We are actively looking to fill this role within the next 2–3 weeks, and are prioritizing candidates who are available to begin onboarding and training immediately.
Key Responsibilities:
- Teach engaging music classes to groups of young children ages 3 months to 5 years, with class durations ranging from 15–30 minutes.
- Travel between and support programming at multiple school sites, including:
- Scotts Valley
- Redwood
- San Jose
- West San Jose
- Palo Alto
- Santa Clara
- Milpitas
- Sunnyvale
- Manage multiple classrooms across different campuses while maintaining consistency in quality and experience.
- Develop and execute thoughtful lesson plans aligned with program curriculum.
- Create a warm, nurturing, and inspiring classroom environment that promotes creativity, confidence, and a sense of security for young learners.
- Collaborate with the performing arts team to produce two annual shows, incorporating music, dance, and theater elements.
- Lead and facilitate musical numbers for performances, including rehearsals and preparation.
- Demonstrate flexibility and initiative while working within a fast-paced, evolving schedule.
- Participate in regular staff meetings and actively incorporate feedback.
- Support additional program needs as directed by the Performing Arts Director.
Additional Opportunity:
- For candidates with a background or interest in theatre, there are additional teaching opportunities available in early childhood theatre classes.
- This may include leading basic acting, storytelling, and performance-based activities, and could contribute to increased weekly hours and expanded involvement in productions.
Schedule & Commitment:
- 18–23 hours per week, scheduled across multiple locations listed above.
- Schedule may include morning and/or afternoon shifts, Monday through Friday.
- This role requires a high level of reliability, organization, and time management due to travel between sites.
Qualifications:
- High School diploma or equivalent.
- Minimum 2–3 years of formal music training (instrumental, vocal, theory, or musical theatre).
- Strong working knowledge of early childhood music education.
- Ability to read and arrange sheet music for classroom and performance use.
- Knowledge of instruments such as: drums, tambourines, bells, maracas.
- Strong classroom management skills, particularly with young children.
- Reliable transportation and willingness to travel between all listed locations is required.
Preferred Qualifications:
- 1–2 years of teaching experience (early childhood strongly preferred).
- Experience preparing young students for live performances.
- Background in two or more of the following: music, dance, theatre.
- Experience developing interdisciplinary performing arts curriculum.
- ECE credentials strongly preferred.
Compensation & Benefits:
- $28–$30 per hour, based on experience.
