What are the responsibilities and job description for the Apprentice Carpenter / Laborer position at Building House LLC?
Building House is raising the bar for residential construction in the Hudson Valley. We design and build architecturally significant, high-performance homes that combine real craftsmanship with cutting-edge building science. Our projects range from new construction to deep energy retrofits, and we're always experimenting with the best new materials and methods.

The Role
This is an entry-level, hands-on position where you'll learn the fundamentals of high-performance building from the ground up. Foundation to finish.
What You'll Do
- Handle the physical work that keeps projects moving
- Learn proper tool use, maintenance, and job-site safety
- Stay a step ahead. Anticipate what's needed and prep tools and materials before you're asked
- Operate construction equipment safely
- Keep job sites, vehicles, and the shop clean and organized
- Work closely with teammates and subcontractors to hit deadlines and maintain quality
What We're Looking For
- Physically fit and comfortable with hands-on work (lifting, carrying, being on your feet all day)
- Reliable. You show up on time, communicate clearly, and have your own transportation
- You pay attention to the details. The quality of our work depends on it
- Genuinely interested in learning how things are built
