Position Overview
Key Responsibilities
- Provide targeted direct instruction in core academic subjects to support student understanding and mastery of content.
- Guide students through individualized, state-aligned online curricula and learning platforms.
- Ensure assignments, assessments, and other academic requirements are completed accurately and on time.
- Monitor, document, and track student progress across academic subjects and learning goals.
- Provide encouragement, redirection, coaching, and accountability based on each student’s individual needs.
- Help students develop independence, organization, time-management skills, and responsibility for their learning.
- Facilitate project-based learning experiences that integrate academic content with creativity, collaboration, critical thinking, and real-world application.
- Support students through the full project-based learning process, including planning, research, development, completion, and presentation.
- Maintain a classroom environment that promotes curiosity, respect, collaboration, and a growth mindset.
- Establish and maintain clear classroom routines, expectations, and supportive learning systems.
- Provide individualized support to students with varying abilities, including neurotypical and neurodivergent learners.
- Implement structured yet flexible approaches that allow students to make meaningful choices and take ownership of their educational progress.
- Organize and facilitate group discussions, learning exhibitions, collaborative activities, and student-led presentations.
- Collaborate with families, school leadership, and team members to communicate student progress, challenges, and recommended support strategies.
- Maintain accurate student records and documentation through online platforms and digital record-keeping systems.
- Actively supervise students during indoor and outdoor activities.
- Participate in staff meetings, trainings, professional development opportunities, school functions, and family events as required.
- Support the school’s mission, vision, and values by modeling integrity, respect, accountability, curiosity, and lifelong learning.
- Maintain student confidentiality and demonstrate professionalism, dependability, and flexibility.
Required Qualifications
- Clear DOJ/FBI background check.
- Valid driver’s license, reliable transportation, and current auto insurance.
- Bachelor’s degree in Education, Special Education, Child Development, Psychology, or a related field.
- Experience working with children in an educational, coaching, mentoring, or similar role.
- Understanding of child development, student motivation, and individual learning differences.
- Experience supporting neurotypical and neurodivergent learners.
- Ability to balance direct instruction with a coaching-based approach that promotes student independence.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills when working with students, families, colleagues, and school leadership.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills.
- Patience, flexibility, creativity, and adaptability within a dynamic educational environment.
- Comfort using technology, online learning platforms, and digital record-keeping systems.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a collaborative team.
- Required immunizations and clearances, including:
- MMR
- Tdap
- Varicella
- Hepatitis B
- TB clearance within the past four years
Desired Qualifications
- Valid teaching credential.
- Master’s degree in Education, Special Education, or a related field.
- Experience with project-based learning.
- Experience working in a microschool, private school, alternative education program, or other individualized learning environment.
- Experience designing engaging, student-centered learning activities.
- Familiarity with online curriculum platforms and differentiated instructional practices.
- Experience helping students develop executive-functioning skills, including organization, accountability, and time management.

Work Environment & Physical Requirements
- Ability to work in classroom, small-group, and individualized learning environments with students who have varied educational needs.
- Ability to actively supervise students during indoor and outdoor activities.
- Ability to remain engaged and responsive throughout the school day.
- Physical demands may include standing, sitting, walking, running, kneeling, squatting, and lifting up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to respond appropriately and safely when students require additional emotional, behavioral, or crisis support.
- Ability to participate in required school functions, family events, and occasional schedule adjustments.
