What are the responsibilities and job description for the Janitor/Cleaner position at Building Blocks Early Learning Center?
We are seeking a reliable and detail-oriented Janitor to maintain a clean, safe, and sanitary environment in our childcare facility. This is a part-time position working 2 hours per day, Monday through Friday, ideal for someone looking for consistent, short shifts.
Key Responsibilities:
- Sweep, vacuum, and mop floors daily
- Clean and disinfect bathrooms, including toilets, sinks, soap dispensers, and surrounding areas
- Sanitize classroom surfaces such as counters, tables, and sinks
- Disinfect high-touch areas including door handles and light switches
- Clean and sanitize toys, including mouthed or soiled items, and allow proper drying
- Wash and sanitize classroom play surfaces and materials (shelves, play kitchens, etc.)
- Refill supplies such as soap, paper towels, toilet paper, and cleaning solutions
- Empty trash and recycling bins; clean and sanitize garbage can lids
- Clean and disinfect shared cots as needed and at the end of each week
- Ensure all areas are left clean, organized, and ready for the next day
- Turn off lights and complete closing tasks if last staff member in the building
Qualifications:
- Previous cleaning or janitorial experience preferred but not required
- Ability to work independently and manage time efficiently
- Attention to detail and commitment to cleanliness
- Reliable and consistent attendance
Work Schedule:
- Monday–Friday
- 2 hours per day (flexible timing, typically after program hours)
