Building Blocks Childcare & Preschool Center is seeking an experienced, dependable, and enthusiastic Lead Teacher for our Head Start classroom. We are looking for an educator who enjoys working with young children, understands early childhood development, and can create a safe, structured, engaging classroom where children can learn and thrive.
Compensation & Benefits
Pay: $17.00–$19.00 per hour, based on education and experience

Position Responsibilities
The Head Start Lead Teacher will be responsible for providing high-quality early childhood education and maintaining a nurturing, developmentally appropriate classroom environment.
Primary responsibilities include:
- Plan and implement engaging, age-appropriate learning experiences for preschool children.
- Maintain a safe, positive, organized, and welcoming classroom.
- Support children's social-emotional, cognitive, language, physical, and school-readiness development.
- Complete required lesson planning, observations, assessments, documentation, and classroom records.
- Establish positive relationships with children and families.
- Communicate regularly and professionally with families regarding children's development and classroom activities.
- Work collaboratively with teaching assistants, program leadership, family-service staff, and other early childhood professionals.
- Maintain required child-to-staff ratios and active supervision at all times.
- Follow Head Start Performance Standards, licensing requirements, program policies, health and safety procedures, and confidentiality requirements.
- Participate in required training, staff meetings, professional development, and program activities.
- Assist with maintaining a classroom environment that supports inclusion and the individual needs of every child.
- Support family engagement and encourage families to participate in their child's education.
Qualifications
Candidates should have education and experience appropriate for a Lead Teacher position in an early childhood/Head Start classroom.
Preferred qualifications include:
- Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, or a related field; or
- Appropriate early childhood credential/coursework and experience that meets applicable Head Start and program requirements.
- Previous preschool, Head Start, GSRP, childcare, or early childhood classroom experience preferred.
- Strong classroom-management and communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a teaching team.
- Ability to complete all required background checks, health requirements, and employment clearances.
