Job Summary:
The Commercial Drywall Superintendent is responsible for managing all field operations related to drywall installation and finishing on large-scale commercial construction projects. This includes supervising crews, ensuring quality control, adhering to safety regulations, maintaining schedules, and coordinating with general contractors, subcontractors, and vendors to deliver work on time and within budget.
Key Responsibilities:
- Supervise daily operations of drywall crews on commercial job sites, including installation, taping, finishing, and inspections.
- Interpret and execute construction plans, shop drawings, and project specifications for commercial interiors, core and shell, and tenant improvement (TI) projects.
- Develop and manage look-ahead schedules and coordinate closely with the general contractor and other trades.
- Ensure work is performed to high quality standards while meeting deadlines and budgetary goals.
- Conduct daily job site inspections to ensure safety compliance and cleanliness.
- Order, track, and manage material deliveries to prevent project delays.
- Monitor labor productivity and make adjustments as needed to maintain project efficiency.
- Troubleshoot issues on-site and proactively resolve conflicts or delays.
- Document job progress and generate daily or weekly field reports for project management.
- Mentor and train field personnel to uphold company standards and industry best practices.
Qualifications:
- Minimum 5–7 years of field experience in commercial drywall construction, with at least 2 years in a supervisory role.
- Strong working knowledge of commercial framing, drywall systems, and finishing standards.
- Proven ability to lead and manage field crews on fast-paced commercial projects.
- Proficient in reading blueprints, construction drawings, and specifications.
- Excellent communication and leadership skills.
- Familiarity with safety protocols, including OSHA standards (OSHA 30 preferred).
- Proficient in using project management software or mobile field reporting tools (e.g., Procore, PlanGrid).
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with mid-rise/high-rise, healthcare, education, or hospitality construction.
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) is a plus.
- Valid driver’s license with reliable transportation.
