Position Summary

The Territory Sales Executive is a senior-level sales leader responsible for driving profitable growth and deepening strategic partnerships with independent agents and brokers across a designated territory. This role leads the full scope of distribution strategy, serves as a key representative of the company’s brand and market position, and is expected to deliver measurable results through a consultative, high-impact approach to agency development and territory management.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the strategic development and management of key agency and broker relationships across the designated territory, consistently exceeding financial objectives through high-impact consultative sales activity, executive-level engagement, and sustained pipeline development.
  • Design and execute sophisticated, multi-year agency business plans that drive sustained profitable growth, deepen carrier of choice positioning, and align with enterprise-wide strategic objectives and market share targets.
  • Own and direct the full distribution lifecycle across the assigned territory, including strategic agency appointments, portfolio optimization, performance accountability, and geographic expansion into new states and markets. Serve as the primary steward of an effective and profitable agency mix.
  • Maintain an expert-level understanding of industry dynamics, emerging market trends, competitive intelligence, and regulatory developments within the construction P&C space to proactively identify opportunities and shape territory strategy.
  • Partner cross-functionally with underwriting, marketing, product, and operations leadership to shape territory-specific strategies, drive production and profitability goals, and champion agency needs within the organization to enhance the overall value proposition.
  • Serve as a senior-level ambassador for the company’s risk appetite, underwriting philosophy, value proposition, and competitive differentiators, tailoring messaging and strategy to the unique needs of each agency and their book of business.
  • Direct the ongoing assessment of territory production, profitability, and agency performance through advanced data analysis, business plan reviews, and strategic dialogue with internal leadership. Leverage insights to make informed recommendations and course-correct as market conditions evolve.
  • Develop and deliver elevated education, training, and coaching programs for agency principals and their sales teams, advancing their depth of knowledge in product, market appetite, and submission quality to drive mutual growth.
  • Represent the company with distinction at industry trade shows, conventions, conferences, and sponsorship events; take an active leadership role in industry associations and organizations to enhance brand visibility and market influence.
  • Contribute to the development and mentorship of junior sales team members; share market intelligence, best practices, and sales strategies to strengthen the overall capability of the distribution team.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Risk Management, Business, Finance, Marketing, or a related discipline required; advanced degree (MBA or equivalent) preferred
  • Seven or more years of progressive sales and marketing experience in the property and casualty industry, with demonstrated success in territory management, agency development, and achieving or exceeding production goals
  • Deep knowledge of commercial construction insurance, including relevant coverage lines, industry risk profiles, and the competitive carrier landscape; CPCU, CIC, or equivalent professional designation strongly preferred
  • Advanced consultative sales skills with a demonstrated ability to build and manage senior-level relationships, influence outcomes across complex organizations, and consistently grow revenue within a competitive marketplace
  • Proven executive presence and the ability to operate with a high degree of autonomy, self-direction, and accountability; recognized as a credible, trusted advisor to agency leadership and carrier partners alike
  • Exceptional strategic thinking and analytical capability; skilled at translating complex data, market signals, and competitive intelligence into actionable territory plans and measurable business outcomes
  • Superior cross-functional collaboration and influencing skills; adept at leading without formal authority, aligning internal stakeholders, and championing the needs of the territory at the enterprise level
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to present with confidence to executive audiences, craft compelling business narratives, and maintain strict confidentiality in all matters
  • Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, CRM platforms, and territory management tools; ability to leverage technology to drive efficiency, pipeline visibility, and reporting accuracy
