Position Summary
The Software Development Engineer (Guidewire) designs, develops, and maintains Guidewire Digital and X Center applications that align with both business and technical requirements. Working in close collaboration with business analysts, architects, and other developers, the Engineer contributes to building solutions, integrating systems, and enhancing the platform using Guidewire Studio, Gosu, and application programming interfaces (APIs).
Focused on delivering high-quality code and scalable architecture, the Engineer ensures adherence to industry best practices while serving in a lead capacity and actively supporting the ongoing improvement of the digital platform.

Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and enhance Guidewire X Centers, digital applications and integrations, including customer-facing portals, APIs and webservices to deliver high-quality solutions.
- Implement seamless integrations with third-party systems using Guidewire APIs, representational state transfer (REST), and simple object access protocol (SOAP) services ensuring efficient data flow and system interoperability.
- Develop and maintain Gosu scripts, templates, rules, and workflows to optimize digital application functionality and performance.
- Collaborate with business analysts and architects to translate business requirements into effective technical solutions that meet stakeholder needs.
- Perform unit testing, conduct code reviews, and support quality assurance (QA) teams in integration and system testing to ensure the reliability and performance of solutions.
- Troubleshoot and resolve application and integration issues, providing timely solutions to minimize disruptions and maintain system stability.
- Maintain comprehensive technical documentation of development processes, configurations, and integrations ensuring clarity and knowledge sharing.
- Contribute to the ongoing improvement of development standards, code quality, and platform performance, fostering a culture of excellence and continuous learning.
- Collaborate with management to support the hiring process, while providing training and mentorship to staff in IT best practices.
- Manage technical aspects of program development, modifications, and issue resolution, ensuring smooth and efficient operations.
- Contribute to the design and optimization of technical workflows and procedures to enhance operational efficiency.
- Lead the implementation of new products and the enhancement of existing solutions to automate business processes and improve organizational performance.
- Serve as a resource for team development, particularly in areas of personal expertise, fostering growth and knowledge sharing.
- Contribute to both team and departmental objectives, while consistently meeting and exceeding individual performance goals.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related discipline; or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Two or more years of progressive IT experience, including hands-on development in Guidewire platforms
- Experience developing Guidewire X Centers, digital, or portal applications, and Integrations
- Knowledge of Gosu, Guidewire Studio, templates, rules, and workflows
- Experience integrating Guidewire applications with third-party systems via APIs, REST, SOAP, or web services
- Proficient in Guidewire Digital tools and frameworks including X Centers, Customer/Agent Portals, with a strong understanding of their functionalities and applications
- Knowledgeable of software development best practices, version control, and testing methodologies with the ability to ensure high-quality and efficient project delivery
- Skill in problem-solving and troubleshooting, with a focus on identifying root causes and implementing effective solutions
- Skill in verbal and written communication with the ability to clearly convey complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders
- Skill in organizational and time management with a keen attention-to-detail, demonstrating flexibility and initiative
- Skill in interpersonal interactions with the ability to lead others, resolve conflicts, build relationships, and foster collaboration across diverse teams in fast-paced and dynamic environments
