The OPPORTUNITY

Builders Mutual is seeking a people-focused, forward-thinking Head of Information Technology to lead all technology functions across the company. As a key member of the Senior Leadership Team, this role drives modernization, security, and performance across our systems and infrastructure.

The Head of IT will build and execute a technology roadmap that strengthens our core systems, enhances infrastructure, and ensures security and compliance. This leader will oversee IT resources and performance to support our employees, customers, and business goals.

Your WORK as our Head of IT will make a difference as you:

• Partner with business leaders to develop and execute a forward-looking IT strategy that aligns with corporate objectives and drives growth, operational excellence, and risk management.
• Oversee the operations of core insurance systems (policy administration, claims, billing) and identify opportunities for modernization.
• Direct IT operations, infrastructure, applications, and systems performance to ensure reliability, scalability, and continuous delivery.
• Lead and develop a high-performing IT team that values collaboration and continuous improvement.
• Lead cohesive technical architecture strategy and champion digital transformation initiatives with a focus on scalability, integration, and composability.
• Ensure cybersecurity policies and programs safeguard all systems and data from internal and external threats.
• Oversee project portfolios, budgets, and vendor partnerships to ensure timely, cost-effective delivery and maximize technology performance and business value.
• Provide regular updates and insights to the executive team on IT performance, risks, and technology investments Partner with the business to bring expertise and guidance on data governance and data strategies to ensure data integrity, availability, and quality.
• Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations including NAIC model laws, PCI DSS, NACHA, state-specific data privacy laws, and any applicable federal standards

Skills to get the JOB done RIGHT:

• 10 years of progressive IT leadership experience, preferably in the Property & Casualty insurance industry.
• Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology or related field (or equivalent combination of education and experience).
• Broad knowledge of IT disciplines including agile project management, applications delivery, infrastructure, networking, cybersecurity, and data management.
• Proven experience leading large-scale technology transformations and managing complex enterprise environments.
• Demonstrated success maturing agile practices and strengthening collaboration between IT and business teams.
• Strong understanding of insurance systems, regulatory compliance, cybersecurity, and data governance best practices.
• Excellent leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills, with a focus on developing people and driving performance.
