Job Title: Concrete Quality Control Specialist
Position Summary
We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Concrete Quality Control Specialist to oversee concrete mix design, testing, and quality assurance processes. This role is responsible for developing and adjusting admixture (ad) mixes for various concrete applications, ensuring all materials meet industry standards, and performing field and laboratory testing to maintain product integrity and performance.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop, adjust, and optimize concrete mix designs, including proper use of chemical and mineral admixtures for specific job requirements
- Monitor and ensure compliance with ASTM, ACI, and DOT standards
- Perform and oversee field and lab testing, including slump, air content, temperature, and compressive strength testing
- Analyze test results and make real-time adjustments to mixes as needed
- Collaborate with plant operators, project managers, and contractors to ensure quality and consistency
- Maintain accurate records of mix designs, test results, and quality reports
- Troubleshoot issues related to workability, set time, strength, and durability
- Conduct site visits to ensure proper placement and handling of concrete
- Ensure all safety procedures and quality control protocols are followed
Qualifications
- Experience in concrete quality control, mix design, or materials testing
- Strong knowledge of concrete admixtures and mix proportioning
- Familiarity with ASTM, ACI, and local/state specifications
- Ability to interpret technical data and adjust mixes accordingly
- Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills
- Excellent communication and teamwork abilities
- Valid driver’s license (for site visits)
Preferred Skills
- Experience with ready-mix concrete operations
- Knowledge of aggregate properties and cement chemistry
- Ability to use testing equipment and lab tools
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel or quality tracking software
Work Environment
- Combination of office, plant, and field environments
- May require working outdoors in varying weather conditions
- Occasional lifting and handling of testing equipment
