About The Role

We care about design. It is the most important showcase of our craft and our team. We want a design engineer to make our platform truly world-class. The ability to do design is a strong bonus.

You’ll work closely with James SE and Ben McClusky.

You can expect to;

• Own problems end-to-end: Partner with domain experts and customers to define what needs to be built, decide how the work gets done, and ship it. No handoffs. No waiting for permission.
• Translate the physical world into software: Work directly with customers to understand their workstreams and embed that knowledge into Build's ontology.
• Use AI tools natively: Start with Claude to clarify intent, surface edge cases, and draft approaches. Use Cursor to prototype and iterate fast. Let AI generate - you guide structure, behaviour, and quality.
• Ship full-stack features: Design, build, and deploy production-grade platform software. Own meaningful problems from first principles to production.
• Validate before you build: Talk to customers, run quick tests, use what you learn to adjust direction. Treat research as a velocity tool, not a gate.
• Solve unsolved problems: There's no playbook for what we're building. You'll work at the intersection of AI and the physical world and figure it out.
• Share what you learn: Contribute patterns, decisions, and learnings. Raise the bar for everyone around you.
