YOUR DAY AS A QUALITY TECHNICIAN
You begin your day by conducting incoming inspections for manufacturing, verifying critical dimensions and features, documenting, and properly storing this information. You delve into 8D investigations for non-conforming materials and customer complaints from manufacturing. Ensuring proper documentation within the CAQ system is a crucial task, as is reviewing and storing all in-process quality data. You monitor first-pass yield and rolling throughput numbers, initiating corrective actions when metrics are off. Supporting annual gauge calibration, you use interval tools to ensure cost-effective calibration intervals. You handle digital incident reports, identify trends, and implement proactive corrective actions. Investigating and correcting near misses and injuries, you also support weekly and monthly safety audits. Lastly, you enter data into local and global systems and manage safety datasheets, ensuring everything is up-to-date and accurate.
REQUIREMENTS FOR A QUALITY TECHNICIAN
- High school diploma with training in quality tools (5-Why, cause and effect, Pareto, histogram) and problem-solving tools (8D, PDCA, DMAIC), with knowledge of ISO 9001:2015
- 3 years of quality experience within a manufacturing environment
The following qualifications are preferred:
- Strong print reading abilities- prefer knowledge of GD&T (geometric dimensioning and tolerancing)
- Understanding of metrology tools and applications (test indicators, micrometers, calipers, gage blocks, and pins)
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office suite, with an emphasis on Excel
- Basic understanding of local and federal safety requirements and regulations
